Beer lovers from Fortitude Valley now have a new place to try a beer - and it has a twist.
The founders of the Taps Bar on the Sunshine Coast are bringing their novel idea of allowing patrons to pour their own beer to Brisbane, and Fortitude Valley is their chosen location.
At the venue, visitors can pour their own beers after purchasing a special electronic tag and loading it with money.
The tag is charged in a way that means patrons only pay for the liquid they pour, allowing drinkers to pour a small taster glass or a full pint from around 16 different beers on offer.
The owners are hoping it will be as successful as their first bar in Mooloolaba, which has been running for 18 months.
Founder Steve Barber said people visited the Sunshine Coast bar from many different places, prompting the expansion to a second location.
Word of mouth may encourage visitors, but the owners could also use poster printing or flyer printing to advertise their new venture, as well as advertising in local newspapers or on websites.
Limits are put on the accounts to ensure no patron can drink too much without being assessed by bar staff, and staff members also roam the floor to make sure everyone behaves.
The bar opened at the beginning of the month in Brunswick Street Mall.
