Irish crime author to speak in Perth

Book lovers from Bellevue are in for a treat next month with international best-selling author John Connolly visiting a nearby library.

Mr Connolly was born in Dublin and had many jobs before writing fiction full time. His first novel, published in 1999, features former policeman turned private detective Charlie Parker, a character for whom the Irish born author is now probably best known.

Along with 11 Charlie Parker novels, Mr Connolly has also written a collection of short stories and a series of novels for young adults, featuring a young British boy called Samuel Johnson.

Next month, Mr Connolly will be speaking at Altone Park library to promote his latest releases. One of his newest Books is called Conquest and is the first of four fantasy novels in a series aimed at teenage readers called The Chronicles of the Invaders. The series was written in conjunction with his partner Jennifer Ridyard.

The author is also promoting the latest in his Samuel Johnson Books. The Creeps is the third release which features the young British boy.

Print companies produce thousands of Mr Connolly’s Books each year, but Bellevue residents have the chance to own a special copy of the latest editions, with signed volumes available for purchase from Dymocks bookshops in conjunction with the event.

The event takes place on Friday October 25. Doors open at 5:30pm and the talk begins at 6:00pm. Places are free, but are limited and must be booked in advance by contacting the library.
