Grants to help innovative tourism operators

Tourism operators from Fortitude Valley and throughout the Brisbane area have an opportunity to apply for grants to help develop new and exciting experiences to encourage visitors to stay in the area for longer.

The grants, worth up to $10,000 each, will be awarded to five tourism operators under The Lord Mayor’s Experience Development Incentive Grant Programme.

According to the Lord Mayor, Cr Adrian Schrinner, the programme’s aim is to encourage operators towards extending what they currently offer as well as to work hand-in-hand with other operators to introduce more unique experiences for the benefit of visitors. He added:

“We want to encourage our tourism operators to offer exceptional experiences that will enhance the destination appeal of the Brisbane region, be valued by our visitors and deliver greater economic benefits through increased visitor numbers and length of stay.”

Recent data from Tourism Research Australia revealed that the region had once again attracted a record number of visitors and expenditure, which has often included everything from accommodation to excursions. The tourism sector can use brochure printing services to design promotional material that will appeal to potential visitors.

Cr Schrinner said work was ongoing to add to the city’s major events calendar and direct air routes. Furthermore overseas marketing activities are being developed in conjunction with tourism partners to contribute to the success of the tourism sector.
