Fortitude Valley offered unique yoga opportunity

Elements Collective in Fortitude Valley is a venue offering yoga classes with a difference – known as "Breathe In & Bleat Out — Goat Yoga", participants can practice yoga in the company of baby farm animals.

Research has shown that the company of baby animals helps humans to relax, so in conjunction with yoga, the benefits of the sessions increase. Organiser Berenice Tan came up with the idea while researching animal therapy. Participants will learn and practice relaxation techniques with a bonus dose of "cuteness overload". The classes start with yoga, followed by meditation and then, finally, snuggling up with the baby animals.

The classes also offer benefits to the animals, as Tan works with organisations that look after abandoned animals. Harmony Hooves Healing Hearts and ABC Animal Farm are two organisations that supply the baby farm animals for the classes. These organisations look after baby animals who have lost a mother by hand-rearing and preparing them for adoption. Unique services such as this can use innovative poster printing to publicise their message around a community.

The next Breathe In & Bleat Out — Goat Yoga session will take place on Saturday, April 16th, at Elements Collective, 17 McLachlan Street, Fortitude Valley. Session times are 8.30 am, 10 am and 11.30 am. Tickets are in demand, so those interested are encouraged to book early on Eventbrite.com.au.
