Entries invited for 2019 Business Awards

The Lord Mayor’s 2019 Business Awards take on an expansive new look this year with the introduction of two brand new categories.

The awards, which attract businesses from across Brisbane, including Fortitude Valley, are set to also recognise social enterprises and micro businesses and the contribution they make to the community and economy of Brisbane.

Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said the Business Awards raise the status of the city’s most innovative and best people and businesses.

He said the latest addition to the categories follows the introduction of the Outstanding Small Business Award two years ago, which has now become among the most popular, adding:

“Given around 88% of businesses in Brisbane employ less [sic] than five people, the new Award for Outstanding Micro Business has been created to separately recognise the impact of these businesses that touch all of our lives.”

In addition, he said, the new Outstanding Social Enterprise Award will acknowledge businesses, no matter what size, for their major social impact in trying to address social problems and better the environment or communities.

Award nominees will vie for top honours across two individual and nine business categories, with the latter ranging from Outstanding Small Business to Business Innovation.

The awards, for which nominations close on July 19, not only provide each entrant with an opportunity to showcase the company Logo Design, but also to boost its profile.

Winners will be revealed on October 18 at special gala dinner to be held at City Hall.
