A venue in Fortitude Valley will soon present a venerable English rock group that formed in the 1970s.
Fans of vintage rock in Fortitude Valley will get a treat this spring. Respected venue, The Tivoli has proclaimed it will play host to English rockers Smokie in September. The band from Bradford, Yorkshire have made a special connection with Australia over the years after they enjoyed lasting success covering “Living Next Door to Alice”, the much-loved song by New World.
The band’s appearance in Fortitude Valley is a part of a springtime tour across Australia that will seem them play many major cities and towns. From coffee shops to arenas, venues of every size often rely on poster printing services for high-quality adverts.
Fans of the band attending the gig can enjoy a wide range of Smokie classics on the night which may include "If You Think You Know How to Love Me", "I'll Meet You at Midnight", "Lay Back in the Arms of Someone" and “Oh Carol.”
Originally called “Smokey”, the band faced a potential lawsuit from soul legend Smokey Robinson. To sidestep legal action, they changed the spelling of their name.
Smokie will now perform live in concert at The Tivoli on Friday, September 26. The venue can be found at 52 Costin Street in Fortitude Valley and the gig begins at 7 pm.
