Swan’s council is looking for people to help at the facility, which is located in nearby Guildford.
The City of Swan’s mayor, Councillor Charlie Zannino, explained that 2014 has been an important year for the area, including a celebration of 180 years in the winemaking industry, and working at the centre would be interesting for those involved. He commented:
“There is so much going on in the region and the Swan Valley Visitor Centre plays an important role in this. The visitor centre is the shop-front for everything in and around Perth’s iconic wine region and as such, volunteers will be involved in a broad range of services."
Volunteers will be expected to handle telephone and email enquiries, make bookings for customers, and work on the front counter.
As well as giving verbal advice, volunteers could give visitors promotional material created by printing companies, such as Brochures for local accommodation or attractions to help tourists make the most of their holiday.
Successful applicants will be asked to work at least one shift each week and attend monthly meetings and training. They must also be able to commit for at least one year.
