Comedy and cabaret coming to Swan

Arts and culture fans from Bellevue can head across to Midland next month when the Midlandia Fringe event returns to the area, as part of the Fringe World Festival.

After a successful first year in 2014, the festival has been scheduled again for late January and early February 2015. The event will see fringe performers from across Australia and around the world gather at venues around Perth, including the Midland Junction Arts Centre, to perform music, theatre, cabaret and comedy.

This year’s acts include Victorian comic Neil Portenza, South African comedian Cam Knight, British stand-up comic Alexis Dubus, and performers Theatre Beating from New Zealand, who will be telling the story of calypso. Many of the performers have won rave reviews and awards, making it an ideal opportunity for Bellevue fans to experience them live.

A highlight will be the Western Australian debut of London-based La Soiree – combining cabaret, circus, and burlesque – who will be performing at one of the festival’s main venues at The Pleasure Garden in Northbridge.

The full programme is available online, and printing services have also been used to create a hard copy of the guide and help festivalgoers plan ahead. A copy of the printed guide can be ordered through the Fringe World website.

Midlandia Fringe will run from Thursday, January 29th until Saturday, February 21st. Tickets are available now.
