Classic Oz rock band to grace Fortitude Valley

Fans of classic Australian rock with history in the Fortitude Valley area may be keen to attend a night of music with The Church in May. Band events are often advertised widely by the use of judicious poster printing.

The Church has been around for four decades and showcases a line-up to include founder Steve Kilbey (bassist and vocalist), Tim Powles (drummer and producer), Ian Haug (guitarist) and, lastly, Jeffrey Cain (multi-instrumentalist), who joined three years ago. Recently, the band has also been joined by guitarist Ashley Naylor.

The Church’s catalogue of work includes the 1988 album ‘Starfish’, which birthed the international hit ‘Under the Milky Way’, widely regarded as a stellar Australian rock anthem. This album also delivered the song ‘Reptile’, another firm fan favourite. The Church was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2010. At the invitation of the Cure’s Robert Smith, the band played the Meltdown Festival in 2018 in London. Celebrating thirty years since the release of ‘Starfish’, The Church are playing to sell-out crowds around the world. In this latest tour, the band is celebrating the latest release of the studio album ‘The Hypnogogue’.

The Church – The Hypnogogue World Tour 2023 is appearing at the Fortitude Music Hall, 312-318 Brunswick Street, Fortitude Valley, QLD, on Thursday, May 25, from 7pm until 11pm. Tickets cost from $81.29.
