The City of Perth Festival of Christmas began on November 11 when the city was lit up for the season and will continue until January 6, 2012. There are events taking place in the city that are sure to appeal to everyone in the family.
There are lots of activities planned for December as part of the Festival of Christmas. The 12 Days of Christmas Trail takes place from December 2-24. 12 storefronts will have displays in their front windows, each representing a gift mentioned in the 12 Days of Christmas song. Local brochure printers have provided a brochure that can be picked up at the Murray St. Mall which features a trail map. Children of all ages, and from all over the area including the nearby suburb of Bellevue, will love to see these magical storefronts with their Christmas theme.
A Twilight Hawkers Market will take place on December 2, 9 and 16 at Forrest Place from 5-8 pm. The market, which runs every Friday from October to March, features cuisine from around the world. At the same time, and on the same days, Friday Night Christmas entertainment will also be featured at Forrest Place. Musical entertainment will feature carollers and local bands.
Illuminities at the Perth Cultural Centre takes place on December 9 and 16 from 5-10 pm. It will present a market, various family activities and live entertainment.
The City of Perth Christmas Funfair takes place on December 10-11 at Forrest Place. It will feature rides, musical entertainment and Santa Claus. There will also be many other Christmas events happening at the Festival of Christmas such as Santa trains and a live nativity play.
