'80s UK synth music giants to play in Fortitude Valley

Fans of electronica, synth-pop and chart music in the Fortitude Valley area might be interested to know that the UK band, The Human League, will be playing locally, to include the full Dare! album and other hits.

The current line-up of lead singer and songwriter, Phil Oakey, together with vocalists Joanne Catherall and Susan Ann Sulley, has been constant since 1980, although there have been various other members throughout the years.

The band’s hit Don’t You Want Me from the 1981 album Dare! has been the single most associated with the group, and it sold almost one and a half million Copies in the UK.

Together with its accompanying moody video, directed by film maker Steve Barron, the single was number one for five weeks over the Christmas period in the band’s home country. Notable other charting hits include The Sound of the Crowd, Mirror Man, Love Action (I Believe in Love) and the slower-paced Human, all of which will feature on the playlist during the evening.

There will likely be Promotional Products for sale at the venue, such as T-Shirts and vinyls, for fans to take home as a memento.
