A wheelchair basketball championship for younger players is being held at a local sports complex based in Brendale this year.
Sports fans in Brendale can attend the “Under 18 and National Junior Wheelchair Championships” this autumn. The suburb has been selected to hold the major sporting event, which is co-hosted by both the Northside Wizards Basketball Association and Basketball Australia.
Two event partners have also been named for the Championships: Morton Bay Regional Council and Tourism & Events Queensland. Associations organising sports competitions sometimes show their appreciation of local sponsors buy adding their official Logo Design to printed promotional materials and press releases.
The National Junior Wheelchair Championships are designed for specific athletes that meet criteria and classifications established by the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation. The competition was once known as the Kevin Coombs Cup, and as a result, winners still play to receive an award called the Kevin Coombs Cup Trophy.
Highlights of the championships include both opening and closing ceremonies, a media and training day, pool games, quarter and semi-finals, a grand final and play offs, and each team taking part in the event will represent their home state.
