A Rugby League championship is returning to Brendale with additional age categories introduced for 2026.
Spring in Brendale will see the suburb welcome back the Queensland Murri Carnival. Now in its 14th year, the event hosted by the Arthur Beetson Foundation is a celebration of Rugby League that highlights the importance of education and health.

This year the major sports event has expanded to not only include divisions for men and women but also underage divisions including under 14s, under 16s, and under 18s. The Carnival is a smoking, alcohol, sugar and drug free event and every player must complete a compulsory “MBS Item 715 Health Check” to participate. In addition, all junior players are encouraged to acquire a minimum school attendance record of 90 per cent.
The event will see multiple teams go up against each other to be crowned the Murri Carnival champions. There will also be coaching opportunities for those looking to support and train the next generation of players participating in the championship.
Queensland Murri Carnival will now run at the Albany Creek Junior Rugby Leage fields and the Pine Sporting Complex from Friday, September 18 to Sunday, September 27. The complex is situated at 620 South Pine Road, Brendale.
