Recently completed, the Phillips Park redevelopment has seen the area transformed into a modern space that boasts a half basketball court, cricket and soccer sports oval, fitness equipment, a brand new playground, a welcoming community hub that includes cafe amenities, artistic First Nations murals and more.
Liverpool City Mayor Ned Mannoun said the new-look park also hosts an indigenous garden for use by the community and a network of pathways leading to all amenities. He added:
“Our beautifully designed Lurnea Community Hub provides a perfect and affordable place to hold your next family gathering, birthday party, wedding reception or anniversary. This is an exciting milestone, not just for Liverpool residents but for the greater Western Sydney community.”
Energy efficiency and sustainability factors were incorporated into the park's design, which includes a solar powered community building and solar lighting to garden areas, while sustainable resources were applied throughout the landscaping process.
Professional printing services have often been enlisted to create signage for new community facilities such as those now available at Phillips Park.
The redeveloped park was seen as a great new recreational facility for the entire community by State MP for Holsworthy Melanie Gibbons. She described it as a state-of-the-art precinct that will enhance liveability for visitors and members of the local community who take the opportunity to enjoy and engage in its many featured amenities.
