Being undertaken in conjunction with Play for All Australia, which was founded by husband and wife Tim Smith and Caroline Ghatt in honour of their son Marcus, the upgrades will see low-backed infant swings replaced with updated high-backed versions to cater for kids of all abilities. Marcus had a significant disability, compelling Tim and Caroline to seek greater awareness about the importance of social inclusion within local communities.
The council was inundated with positive responses when it contacted local businesses late last year requesting that they sponsor the 14 swings.
Mayor of Liverpool, Ned Mannoun, was delighted with the support that allowed the council to be the first in the south west of Sydney to enact the initiative and clearly illustrate its commitment towards being an inclusive city.
Businesses supporting the initiative each have a Logo Design, outlet or establishment easily recognised with the local community.
Chamber of Commerce president Dimitri Karam applauded the council, saying:
"This is a great innovation to make sure all our children in the community are given an equal opportunity to play and develop."
Other playgrounds that are set to benefit from the upgrades include Apex Park, Scott Memorial Park, Miller Park, Carnes Hill Park, Judy Pack Park, Black Muscat Park, Macleod Park, Jardine Park, Voyager Park, Lakeside Park and Cameron Park.Get a Free Quote for Logo Design
