Set to take visitors to the Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre (CPAC) on a trip through space and time, the exhibition will present art enthusiasts, artists, designers and kids with many thrills as it deconstructs and discusses air travel. It also takes a candid look at the new Badgerys Creek's aerotroplis and airport. Exhibitions such as this are often publicised via poster printing campaigns.
Mayor of Liverpool, Ned Mannoun, said the Flight exhibition provides an ideal opportunity to view air travel from a new perspective and represented a fabulous way to re-engage with the mindset of flight following the pandemic when flying was among industries hit hardest. He added:
“And as we eagerly await the 2026 arrival of the Western Sydney International airport named after Nancy Bird Walton, we can take an in-depth look at the history, future, culture and impact of aviation.”
Aviator Nancy Bird Walton, who died in 2009 at the age of 94, was the first woman in Australia to have a pilot's licence that allowed her to carry passengers. She has received the John Flynn Outback Pioneers Award, an OBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours, and became an Officer of the Order of Australia in 1990.
Flight will be at CPAC in 2023 from 21 January until 11 June.
