Liverpool to host First Nations festival

Locals in Liverpool are preparing for a First Nations festival coming to the suburb in August.

The BlakFire Festival is sponsored by Liverpool Plaza. The weekend event will include cultural celebrations, music and food from the First Nations community.

Attendees can enjoy live music from First Nations performers, like Microwave Jenny, Fringe Dwellers, and Uncle Col Hardy. Musicians will perform throughout the festival.

There will be art workshops on offer for kids and adults. Kids can enjoy boomerang painting and stone and pebble painting. There will be a range of cultural experiences to choose from, including nawi making, dreaming storytime sessions, and bushtucker demonstrations.

First Nations crafters like Dollies Tribe and Co and Tarni Jane Designs will be selling their wares at the event. There will be food available across a variety of cuisines, including Indigenous, Samoan, Australian and Turkish.

Organisers of community events can contact Print shops to help them advertise. Professional printers can help create Promotional Products that market events and attract interest.

The BlakFire Festival will start on Friday, 23 August, 2025. It will end on Sunday, 25 August. The festival will be at Macquarie Mall, Liverpool, NSW 2170. All are invited to attend. Dogs can attend as long as they are kept outdoors and on a leash. For more information, visit the Liverpool City Council website.
