Liverpool music fans to hear iconic British rap

A hip-hop star from the UK capital will be performing live in Sydney next year, allowing fans to hear his latest material.

Those who enjoy rap and hip-hop in Liverpool and other Sydney suburbs will soon have an opportunity to see Stormzy live in concert. February 2024 will see the London artist take to the stage at the Sydney Showgrounds as a headline act of the Laneway Festival.

Better known by his stage name of as Stormzy, Michael Ebenezer Kwadjo Omari Owuo Jr. is a British songwriter and rap star. 2014 saw him gain attention from the UK music scene when he performed freestyle rap over well-known grime beats. He later campaigned to reach number one with another freestyle called "Shut Up", which was first released via YouTube.

2019 saw him enjoy number one success with “Vossi Bop”, and he become the first black rapper from Britain to headline Glastonbury.

Today, Stormzy is a Mercury Prize nominee and multi award winning artist, taking home the Best Grime Act at the MOBO Awards twice and becoming BBC's Artist of the Year, along with several other honours.

Stormzy will be at the Sydney Showgrounds on Sunday, February 4. The venue is located on Showground Road at Sydney Olympic Park, and the concert will commence at 7pm.
