Disability awareness workshop coming up in Liverpool

A free training workshop focusing on disabilities and employment opportunities will be held in Liverpool during December, as part of International Day of People with Disability.

The day is celebrated annually around the world and aims to bring an awareness of the contributions disabled people bring to their communities.

The workshop will be facilitated by JobAccess, a national job provider for workplace and general employment information hub for people with disabilities. As part of an initiative of the Australian government, JobAccess endeavours to be a one-stop-shop for resources and information around disability employment. Flyer printing may be used to advertise new projects and events such as this.

Sessions will be run throughout the workshop with a focus on education. Participants will be given an overview of what it means to have a disability, with a view to removing some of the misunderstandings and myths that surround disabled people.

Workplace practices will also be highlighted during the session, with discussions on ideas to help in creating a supportive and inclusive workplace. Training will be offered to those who are health professionals, to assist in improving outcomes through the management and implementation of superior care programmes and support services.

The workshop will be held in Conference Room 1 at TRMEC in Liverpool Hospital on Tuesday 3rd December from 9am until 12pm.
