Council encourages residents to nominate young achievers

Nominations of young achievers in Liverpool, New South Wales, are being sought to compete in the first ever NSW/ACT Young Achiever Awards.

In a move to showcase some of the area’s best young talent, Liverpool City Council is calling on the community to put forward known young achievers to represent the district.

People aged 12 to 28 can be nominated in a host of categories, which include the Australian Super Career Kick Start Award, the Australian National University Science Leadership Award, the Santos Indigenous Achievement Award, and the Who Printing Environment and Sustainability Award.

According to Peter Ristevski, Liverpool’s Deputy Mayor, the awards did not only give recognition for young people’s achievements, but also illustrated the breadth of talent in existence within the city. He encouraged residents to help showcase some of the community’s young achievers by nominating them in the various categories.

Category winners will get a handcrafted glass trophy, along with $2000, and will also gain a chance to be named the Overall Young Achiever of the Year at a special Gala Dinner Presentation to be held on March 21 next year in Sydney.

The event, to be presented by Prime7, Channel 7 and NOVA 96.9FM, could lead to many future promotional opportunities for the overall winner, including flyer printing campaigns to advise locals of the programme’s success.
