The Macquarie Park Business Corridor, near Gladesville, has been described as Australia’s No.1 economic powerhouse in data released recently.
A City of Ryde spokesman said the figures, contained in booklet printing of the report, showed growth at Macquarie Park of 6% outperformed all districts, including the Inner South area of Sydney CBD, which rose by 4.8%.
The SGS data analysis stated that the 6% growth in the business corridor combined with the inner northern suburbs and Sydney CBD to deliver 24% of growth in Australia’s 2015-16 gross domestic product.
City of Ryde Mayor Bill Pickering was delighted with the news which, he says, shows the Ryde Macquarie Park hub to be driving not only Sydney’s thriving economy, but also the nation’s.
He said with Ryde Macquarie Park boasting a $15bn output, its performance is better than all other economic districts nationwide, and this is something upon which Council intends to build.
Macquarie Park’s expert management as a world-class precinct of innovation by Ryde Council, Pickering added, has been clearly endorsed as a result of the latest SGS Economics & Planning report. He said further improvements to transport and infrastructure were needed to enhance and protect the commercial core of Macquarie Park, including the introduction of light rail to connect it with Parramatta, underground bus interchange and additional bus services.
