Gladesville to celebrate Granny Smith apples

Residents of Gladesville can take part in the Granny Smith Carnival next month, supported by their local city council, the City of Ryde.

The event is being held in celebration of Maria Ann’s legacy and life (also known as Granny Smith) via a carnival that will take place over three days. The carnival will include a large number of rides for children, dance performances, entertainment by professionals and shows for kids. Additionally, there will be roving entertainment, showbags, and carnival games. For food options, attendees can expect a number of food trucks and a Cider Bar.

As it is a celebration of the Granny Smith apples, attendees can also expect apple pies, Granny Smith apples and an appearance by Mrs. Granny Smith, along with Sweetie Pie, her accomplice. Community events like this can effectively be promoted via poster printing, with Posters placed in locations that receive a high volume of pedestrian traffic, such as shopping centres, supermarkets and public transport stops.

To ensure that the event is COVID-safe, all sessions will be ticketed, and the venue will be fenced in. The carnival will take place over three days to accommodate the expected number of people that will attend. Unlike previous years, there will be no street stalls or street parade at the carnival this year.

The Granny Smith Carnival will start on Friday, 15th October and will be held at the Eastwood Oval.
