Gladesville to celebrate Caribbean culture

Gladesville’s local council, the City of Ryde, will be supporting the 2022 Sydney Caribbean Festival in February.

The event will promote food, music, dance and culture from the Caribbean. The event is family friendly and will feature a fete for the kids from 5pm, running for three hours. Banner printing is often used for community events.

The event will start at 1pm and COVID protocol will be followed to ensure everyone’s safety. Throughout the festival, attendees can expect to hear the distinctive melody of Caribbean music. They can wander the number of stalls that will be featuring Caribbean products and purchase food and drink of Caribbean style.

Festival formalities, such as Acknowledgement of Country, welcome, opening remarks and greetings, will occur from 2pm to 2.30pm from a number of Caribbean and Australian dignitaries. Entertainment, inclusive of cultural showcases, will then follow from 2.30pm to 4.45pm. Dance music will play from 5pm to 8pm.

The event is ticketed, and 5% percent of the ticket proceeds will go to a charity based in the Caribbean. Attendees are encouraged to bring toiletries that have not been used before as donation to the charity, Will2Live.

The 2022 Sydney Caribbean Festival will be held on Saturday, 26th February and will run from 1pm to 8pm. The venue for the event is the North Ryde School of Arts Community Centre, which is located on 201 Coxs Road.
