Artistic types in the Gladesville locality may be keen to sign up for a new kind of workshop where clay and paint are used together to create a colourful, textured piece of art. Details of important workshops for art or other causes can often be included in local brochure printing.
The Pinot and Picasso workshops are popular as they allow people to unlock their inner artist in a convivial atmosphere, with maybe a glass or two of wine (not provided). At this particular event, budding creatives are asked to reimagine the icon that is Frida Kahlo by using paint and clay together to create a textured piece of colourful art that can be hung in pride.
Frida Kahlo was a Mexican artist who painted many self-portraits in striking colours. Often, these would reveal her physical discomfort as she suffered multiple fractures from a bus accident as a teenager. Although she did not sell many paintings during her lifetime (she died in 1952), her work now commands high prices, sealing her position as one of the highest-selling female artists. Due to her Marxist tendencies, she is also widely recognised as a counterculture icon.
Textured Art – Frida, takes place at Pinot & Picasso, 269 Victoria Road, Gladesville, on Sunday, May 28 from 2pm until 5pm. Tickets cost $79, including all art materials and a canvas with a frame.
