Dynamic outdoor space being created at Wilga Park

The establishment of two public artworks is among major upgrades planned for Wilga Park.

The Shrimptons Creek site is located in Macquarie Park and is easily accessible for residents from nearby Gladesville, Ryde and other parts of the city. Once completed, the works, which are well underway, are expected to transform Wilga Park into an extraordinary outdoor space where community events can be staged.

The upgrades are being instigated in conjunction with the Shrimptons Creek Activation project, which hopes to connect open space and parkland to create increased public and recreation space along the banks of the Shrimptons Creek Corridor. New developments such as this often use Graphic Design Services to help with effective planning.

City of Ryde Mayor Jerome Laxale stated that the improvements will provide a top quality outdoor facility, adding:

“An aspect I love about the upgrades is the fact it includes amphitheatre terracing and new lighting which will enable the venue to play host to night-time events, which will play a part in boosting the area's night-time economy and provide the community with more 'after 5' activities to enjoy.”

The upgrades include two public artworks, a picnic area, new access paths and improved path lighting, amphitheatre terracing including concrete seating walls and an amenities building. There will also be the establishment of a landscaped boundary, featuring native groundcover and grass as well as a native tree canopy.

Work is expected to be completed at the park by August this year.
