Convivial board game opportunity in Gladesville

Board gaming, as opposed to computer gaming, is having its moment in Gladesville.

There are many options in modern-day neighbourhoods to engage with others and share the strategy and excitement of playing games to win, and this is now being embodied at the Ticket to Ride tournament.

Taking place at the RSL in Gladesville at the end of November, Ticket to Ride has been a popular choice for traditional gamers since its inception in 2004.

During the game, participants are dealt destination cards joining cities, with various train routes running between all cities on the game board. These are kept secret, and each player attempts to fulfil the briefs on the destination cards, placing their train pieces along routes, drawing and discarding cards along the way.

The winner is then the player who, at the end of the game, has accrued the most points due to the completed routes they have established.

The original game was based on railway maps of the US and Canada, and subsequent versions have included other continents. Expansion packs can also be purchased, and there are computer versions for different platforms, along with a card game that was released in 2008.

Colourful, stylish graphics are key to board games themselves, which are often generated by expert printing services.

The One-Day Tournament: Ticket to Ride Europe is taking place at 10am on Sunday 26th of November. The venue is Gladesville RSL, NSW 2111, and entry costs $35, which guarantees at least three games.
