City of Ryde to hold free composting workshop
Gladesville residents can attend a composting and worm farming workshop hosted by their local council this June.
Gardeners add compost to soil to assist in the growth of their plants. Compost can also assist with limiting the amount of water used by plants. As compost is made up of fruit and vegetable scraps, gardeners can contribute to protecting the environment by reducing the amount of waste that goes to landfill.
During the workshop, participants will learn the basics of setting up their own compost bin or worm farm as well as methods they can utilise for compost production. City of Ryde locals that attend the workshop will receive 50% off on their purchase of a compost bin or worm farm. Local events such as this are typically promoted via flyer printing campaigns.
Participants are requested to bring a notepad, pen, drinks bottle, and a cup for morning tea. As participants will be required to go outdoors, it is encouraged that they wear enclosed shoes with no heels, use sunscreen and wear a hat for protection.
The workshop is free and will be held on Saturday, June 13th from 9:45am to 12pm. Bookings will open on 13th May and it is mandatory that all participants book online. The event will be held at the Habitat Community Nursery located on 249 Quarry Road in Ryde.
