City of Ryde presents exhibition for sustainable waste

Gladesville residents can attend the 2020 Sustainable Waste 2 Art Prize (SWAP) exhibition presented by the local City of Ryde Council this October.

The event will showcase short-listed works of artists and members of the community. To ensure it is an event that supports the local community, all participants live, work, play or study in the City of Ryde.

The overall theme of the exhibition is sustainable living. Attendees can expect to see artwork made from recycled material, which would have otherwise been landfill, transformed into animals, insects, portraits, landscapes and fashion. To encourage locals to get involved in events like this, local councils may use poster printing to promote the event in the community.

Attendees can show support for their favourite artwork by vote. The exhibition caters for younger ages too, and school students are encouraged to visit the exhibition. These groups will, however, need to contact the council so that there is enough staffing within the gallery for their visit.

The SWAP exhibition will commence on 16th September, with the last day being 1st October. It will be held at the See Street Gallery located at the Meadowbank Campus of the Northern Sydney Institute, which is in walking distance of the Meadowbank train station. The exhibition will be open from 11am to 4pm from Tuesday to Saturday only and is free to attend.
