Aussie roots music to play out in Gladesville
Lovers of original music with a home-grown flavour in the Gladesville area may be keen to come and listen to Kevin Bennett and The Flood later this month.
The Flood is an Australian alternative country band that was formed originally by Kevin Bennett (lead vocals and electric guitar), along with James Gillard (bass guitar and vocals), Mark Collins (guitar, banjo and vocals) and Doug Bligh (drums and percussion). They recorded the album ‘The Ballad of KB’ in 1998. After supporting the American country music artist Kevin Welch in 2002, the band subsequently released a self-titled album, and the track ‘Paul Kelly’s Blues’ was nominated for APRA Song of the Year at the 2004 Country Music Awards of Australia.
With a change of line-up, the latest offering from the band is ‘Blood Red Ties’, which was released in 2019. It is reminiscent of the huge Australian landscape and has as its focus the ties that bind family, roots and country. This album saw the band winning the Group of the Year Award at the Country Music Awards of Australia in 2020.
The vibrant cover of the album Is painted by Bas Edwards and would lend itself to replication on flyer printing to provide a draw for potential fans.
Kevin Bennett and The Flood are playing at the Bayvew Hotel, 166 Victoria Road, Gladesville on Sunday 24th November at 5pm. Entry is free.
