The exhibition, called Express Yourself, will showcase artworks created by more than 50 higher school certificate students of visual art.
In a statement, Mayor of Northern Beaches Michael Regan described the display as outstanding works produced during a challenging time and commended all who took part.
Regan said the council was proud to put the impressive artworks created by such resilient and talented young artists on display. They illustrate a wide variety of expressive art Forms, which the mayor said explore many contemporary issues, including the environment, isolation and gender identity. He added:
“The exhibition showcases the very best from our high-quality secondary schools, attracts new and younger audiences to our regional gallery and helps to nurture and inspire the next generation of local artists.”
Exhibitions such as this are often the focus of poster printing campaigns that showcase major events at local galleries and venues.
Two awards, which are granted each year to students whose works are showcased in the art exhibition, will be disclosed on 25 March. They include the winners of the Theo Batten Bequest Youth Art Award, who will receive $5,000, and the Manly Art Gallery and Museum Society Youth Art Award, which is worth $3000.
The exhibition will run from 25 March to 1 May, and visitors are urged to nominate their favourite piece of artwork. These will be in the running to be named People's Choice.
