New restaurants, more retail space and additional car parking are the focus of a major extension proposal for Westfield Warringah Mall in Brookvale.
Estimated to cost about $226 million, the plans were submitted recently to Northern Beaches Council and represent stage two in major upgrades to the shopping centre. The first stage was completed in 2016.
Submitted on behalf of the Scentre Group, which operates Westfield, a number of changes have been envisaged including the relocation of the Hoyts Cinema to level three.
According to the plans, which included a graphic design and artist impression, the facelift would include the addition of 35 more food outlets including licensed premises together with 15 speciality retailers, 10 small outlets and one major store. They will be located throughout the three levels as part of up to an additional 10,000sqm of extra retailing space.
The food court on level one, according to centre managers, would be expanded under the plan and a new restaurant precinct established on level two with views overlooking Brookvale Creek and the Warringah golf course.
Parking spaces would be boosted to cater for a total of 5,093 vehicles. Warringah Mall’s Condamine Street entrance would also be altered to permit cars to exit at this point as well.
Modifications to specialty shops and the Target store on the ground level are also planned. A 14-month timeline has been estimated for completion of the project.
