Actor Ryan Gosling was recently filmed performing his own stunts on the Sydney Harbour Bridge, causing the bridge to be closed for a half a day.
On Sunday 22nd January, the Sydney Harbour Bridge was closed between 3am and 10am for filming of Ryan Gosling’s new movie The Fall Guy, causing traffic delays across the area and resulting in frustrated residents.
Video footage shows Ryan Gosling hanging onto the back of a truck and gliding along the bridge dressed in light, ripped jeans and a red jacket. The movie, which started filming last September, is based on a TV show from the 80s and directed by David Leitch, the director of action movie John Wick.
The rest of the Harbour Bridge was full of equipment for filming, as well as cars and other production vehicles scattered around blocking the way.
Sydney residents took to Twitter to vent their frustration over the delays and suggested a better idea would be to film the scene elsewhere and superimpose Ryan on the Harbour Bridge rather than physically shutting it. However, plenty of Australian residents nearby were excited to see the actor wave to them from their viewpoint at Milsons Point Station, which provides key transport links for residents of surrounding areas such as Brookvale and Haymarket.
Despite the disruptions, becoming a filming location for big movies can also be beneficial when it comes to brochure printing in order to attract more tourists.
