The new initiative is a joint venture between the Roads and Maritime Services Road Safety Centre and the City of Sydney, and is designed to make people more aware of dangers on the road.
The scheme, which has used printing services to create large billboards, will be promoted around the city’s three main train stations – the Town Hall, Wynyard, and Central stops. Two campaigns will run alongside each other, entitled ‘Watch Out Cars About’ and ‘Watch Out Pedestrians About’.
Passengers from Alexandria will be likely to spot the Posters as they commute into the city by train from the Green Park station, or as they drive into central Sydney.
While statistics show that the number of accidents involving vehicles and pedestrians has dropped in recent years, officials believe too many people are being injured on the city’s streets.
Sydney’s Lord Mayor Clover Moore said it was important to take care on the city’s busy roads. She said:
“Sydney is a fast-paced city and we all have busy schedules and places we need to be, but it’s not worth risking your life – or anyone else’s – to save a minute or two.”
The new billboards will display maps of accident hotspots and show the number of people killed or injured at each location.Get a Free Quote for Posters
