Theatre lovers from Alexandria can experience the live stage in their own living room as part of this year’s Art and About Sydney festival.
The three-week event celebrates the best of art and live performance from local and international artists.
For the 2014 instalment, young writers from Sydney have created three short shows that will be performed in living rooms across the city.
Called Armchair Apocalypse, the shows will be produced by the Rock Surfers Theatre Company, which promotes up and coming writers and artists. This year is the first time the project has been attempted in the festival’s 13-year history.
Interested residents must own their own home, be willing to have other theatregoers in their house for around an hour – including the show – and should have a room that can accommodate up to 30 people.
The event would no doubt make for some stunning photographs, which could be reproduced by a professional printing company to share with family and friends, or even to hang on the wall as a memento of the night.
Art and About takes place between Friday, September 19th and Sunday, October 12th. Other events include a quarter acre block party in the central business district, walking tours, and a graphic art exhibition.
Anyone interested in taking part in the Armchair Apocalypse event should fill in the expression of interest form at www.rocksurfers.org/artandabout
