Reluctant bicycle riders in the Alexandria area may find that with a bit of gentle persuasion, they are ready to get back in the saddle and enjoy all that moving on two wheels has to offer. Flyer printing is just one way in which organisations can spread the information about upcoming courses.
Most people learnt to ride a bike as children – for some this was the start of a lifelong passion, for many others the skill was consigned to the recesses of the mind along with the bicycle, rusting in the back of the garage. As part of an initiative by the City of Sydney, reluctant riders are being gently persuaded to get back on the bike as a simple way to move around the city, with the added bonus of gaining fitness and seeing all that the area has to offer from a different perspective.
On the four-hour course, participants will learn how to start and stop, efficient braking and the use of gears. As part of the course, bicycles will be assessed for safety and suitability.
The Cycling in the City: Rusty Riders course takes place on Sunday, August 6 from 9am until 1pm at the Sydney Park Cycling Centre, 410-416 Sydney Park Road, Alexandria. Tickets cost $25. Attendees are asked to bring a helmet and suitable clothing. Bicycles can also be loaned if required.
