Festival atmosphere set to hit Sydney City streets

Alexandria residents will be among many across the City of Sydney to enjoy a festival vibe as part of a special events series being held until November.

Lord Mayor of Sydney Clover Moore said that during the festival series, traffic will be stopped from going through local village high streets, which will be transformed to allow for entertainment, dining, shopping and walking.

She said that the intention for staging the street festivals was to help support and revive local businesses and added:

“Our first series of Sydney Streets parties through the last summer was a huge success and well received by residents and businesses alike. We want to see more people get out and about and enjoy what their neighbourhoods have to offer.”

The pedestrian-only areas from 11am through to 10pm will provide businesses with an opportunity to mount in-store activations as well as trade outside in an effort to attract patrons and customers. Roving entertainers and acoustic musicians will perform.

Poster printing campaigns have often helped to spread the word about major events such as this that are being held on the doorstep of local residents.

The innovative programme to revitalise Sydney City streets will be held again in 2023, with events set to take place for the enjoyment of all visitors and local residents from January through to April, followed by a third series from May to June 2023.
