Creative studios set for early 2022 opening

Artists in Alexandria are among many creatives being invited to register their interest to use an innovative new rehearsal and production space being established at nearby Darlinghurst.

The City of Sydney Creative Studios will span five storeys and 2,000 square metres in Bathurst Street, and it will operate under Brand X, which is well-known for providing artists with affordable spaces. Such organisations often ensure their Logo Design is crafted with memorability in mind.

This latest innovation is a result of an agreement between Greenland Australia and Sydney City, in which the city has signed a lease for the studio for 99 years. Brand X has been engaged for three years as operators of the new facility, according to the Lord Mayor of Sydney, Clover Moore, who added:

“The spaces are designed for a variety of artistic disciplines and artists at different stages in their careers, and to encourage collaboration within our talented creative community.”

Aimed at creative industries, the studios will host two rehearsal spaces for performers, actors and dancers, each featuring sprung timber floors. There will five soundproof rehearsal and recording studios, along with editing and production suites, creative wet-dry studios, an apartment for an artist-in-residence and accompanying creative studio, meeting and administration spaces, dressing rooms, storerooms and a cafe.

Fit-out and building works are underway, and interest from anyone keen to take advantage of the new facilities on offer are being urged, with early next year being the anticipated time of opening.
