Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and Alexandria couples will be offered the perfect opportunity to try something new with a cooking class set to take place next month.
Guests can join Michael Rantissi at a popular venue this February, as he demonstrates Mediterranean and Middle Eastern style cooking. There will be plenty of opportunities for tasting, too.
Rantissi runs Salma’s Canteen in Rosebery, which opened in July 2023. He also owns and runs Kepos Catering and the Kepos Street Kitchen in Redfern. Inspired to cook from a young age by his mother, and cutting his chef’s teeth in restaurants in both Paris and London, he has also written two successful cookbooks. Both titles, Hummus & Co and Falafel for Breakfast, were longlisted for an Australian Book Industry Award.
Taking place on Valentine’s Day, offerings from the class menu will include: a Muhamara dip, chicken bastille, caramelised Brussels with feta and pomegranate, and an almond coconut cake. All attendees will be able to sample these dishes, which will be paired with fine wines. Recipes and methods for cooking classes such as this can be provided by local printing services.
The Autumn Comfort Food class with Michael Rantissi from Kepos Street Kitchen will take place on Wednesday 14 February, from 5.30pm until 7.30pm. The venue is the Simon Johnson Cooking School, 24A Ralph Street, Alexandria, NSW 2015. The cost to attend is $150.
