Going 100 per cent GreenPower with electricity plans will enable people to put their support towards the growth of the country's renewable sector.
According to the Lord Mayor of Sydney, Clover Moore, the move by people towards renewable energy was among the biggest steps that could be implemented to help address the climate crisis, and it was not only homeowners who could make a difference. She added:
“Many of our residents believe they can’t go renewable if they are renting or live in an apartment block. But there’s more to renewable electricity than just putting solar panels on the roof.”
The move to GreenPower for electricity, which has been the subject of many brochure printing campaigns throughout Australia, is one which can assist Sydney City to hit its 2035 net zero target, according to Moore. She said a switch to using GreenPower is the easiest and single biggest step residents could take.
CEO of the Clean Energy Council Kane Thornton also believed changing over to Green Power was a top option, especially for businesses and individuals for whom solar panel installation was not an option.
Thornton said GreenPower is a scheme managed by the government that permits households to buy certified renewable energy via established electricity retailers.
