The Community Broadcasting Association of Australia (CBAA), based in Alexandria, is encouraging locals and regional listeners to jump on board the ‘One Minute, One Action, One Planet’ project. The scheme, backed by the NSW Environmental Trust, aims at providing a valuable resource on sustainability and environmental issues.
The project, incorporating a collection of radio segments by environmental expert Lish Feyer, was recently added to the CBAA website and comprises advice and suggestions for residents to reduce energy and water costs, plus greenhouse emissions. The 20 audio snippets, all less than two minutes long, provide information on such matters as water saving, recycling waste, using green power, and much more.
Feyer, also known as Australia’s ‘queen of green’, is familiar as co-presenter of ABC TV’s Carbon Cops. Her interest in all things environmental began as a student attempting to reduce her living costs without sacrificing quality of life.
The One Minute, One Action, One Planet project is a natural extension of the NSW Environmental Trust, which provides funding for environmental community groups otherwise unsupported by government budgets. Recent increased awareness of sensitive environmental and resource issues sees The Community Broadcasting association perfectly placed as a mouthpiece for change.
Locals, activists and entrepreneurs are encouraged to get behind the project by incorporating energy-saving methods into the household, as well as increasing awareness in the community by promotion, poster printing, and flyer printing for distribution. The green revolution is at the forefront of change, and this partnership between government and the private sector is a vital step toward a cleaner and greener lifestyle for all.
