Lord Mayor of Sydney Clover Moore said the programme has been updated to target institutions such as non-profits, business chambers, precinct and sector-based member organisations and associations that have an economic focus.
She said that since 2017, when the grants to support the business sector were first launched, 245 projects had received assistance from a funding total of about $4.7 million. She added:
“The great thing about these grants is we won’t just be supporting one off events or programs, we’ll be bringing local businesses together to build the relationships and skills necessary to deliver community benefit repeatedly, well into the future.”
According to the Lord Mayor, the current grants give a stronger focus to the areas of precinct marketing, diversity, technology and innovation, and will assist in boosting the local economy by introducing a diverse selection of business types and sectors.
The city is seeking applications for projects ranging from upskilling local entrepreneurs and businesses to those seeking to adapt to ever-changing technologies, as well as collaborative marketing options to spread awareness and promote the city's unique experiences. This could include everything from brochure and banner printing to graphic design. Applications for the cash grants close on 7 March.
