Architectural Award nominees named

Contenders for the 2019 NSW Architecture Award have been named with 97 entries nominated across all 12 categories.

The awards are celebrated annually and recognise outstanding and innovative ideas within the architectural community.

Categories include urban design projects, interior design, heritage listed projects as well as smaller architectural undertakings. This year’s trend has been much more directed towards sustainability, with the use of timber and concrete as well as outside areas using green planting and the use of connective courtyards.

Several renowned Sydney properties have been entered into the award with the temporary space of the Ultimo Sydney Dance Company rehearsal studios and the Green Square Library and Plaza being two nominees.

The Surrey Hills Paramount House Hotel has been entered for both sustainability and heritage consideration and The Rocks restaurant, Tayim, has been nominated for the remodelling of its historic sandstone building.

The awards are organised by the Australian Institute of Architects and will be voted on by members and associates of the architectural community. The emphasis is on supporting and celebrating innovation and creativity within architectural design.

Category winners will be announced at the NSW Awards night on July 5th in Alexandria with more information to come. Print shops may be used to create Flyers or Posters for events such as this.

Winners of the awards will then go on to be in the running for the National Awards, to be held in November.
