Food lovers and connoisseurs alike in the Alexandria area will probably be keen to attend the Dumplings and Caviar Masterclass with a Masterchef Australia finalist in August.
The event is being hosted by Sarah Tiong, who was a Masterchef finalist in 2017, and Simon Johnson who is a passionate caviar enthusiast and is there to showcase varieties and expertise to pick the best pairing with the dumplings. Classes of this nature in the community are often advertised by the medium of local brochure printing.
Growing up in Sydney, Tiong has always been interested in her mother’s Malaysian heritage and from a young age was learning recipes and techniques from Asian cuisine. Creating her own recipes from a tender age, Tiong is keen to marry her Asian cuisine expertise with more traditional French, Italian and Australian influences to give a fresh take on the taste experience.
Johnson, of Simon John Quality Foods, is a fan of caviar and is able to disseminate and share his knowledge so that tasters learn the subtle differences and are more able to match with other foodstuffs. At the Masterclass, participants will be taught the skills necessary to produce delicious dumplings, before learning to understand how to make the best pairings with the caviar on offer.
The Dumplings and Caviar Masterclass with Sarah Tiong takes place on Wednesday, August 30, from 6pm until 8pm. The venue is 24A Ralph Street, Alexandria, NSW 2015. Tickets for the Masterclass cost $207.78.
