Alexandria caf voted in top 10 favourite places on Instagram

Photographs of beloved places are being used for far more than local postcard printing, with some going viral on social media. One venue in Alexandria, New South Wales, has been voted the sixth-most Instagrammed spot nationally.

The accolade came after visitors to The Grounds of Alexandria café, including actor Chris Hemsworth, were so impressed by its food and hobby farm setting that they took photographs and posted them on their Instagram accounts.

Images ranged from colourful displays of food to potted plant-lined pathways and selfies with resident pig, Kevin Bacon.

Jack Hanna, who owns The Grounds of Alexandria, was excited to have made the top 10 and said engaging and connecting with customers on Instagram was very rewarding.

He said exchanging favourite dishes and places inspired food lovers.

The social photo-sharing app listed the 10 most photographed places around Australia. Seven were in Sydney, including the top four, with two in Melbourne and one in Queensland.

The top location was the Sydney Opera House followed by Darling Harbour. In third place was the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Bondi Beach, visited by Prince William and Kate during their 2014 visit, was placed fourth, and Queensland’s Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast was fifth.

The Grounds of Alexandria café took out the next spot, followed by St. Kilda Beach, Circular Quay in Sydney, the Melbourne Cricket Ground, and Coogee Beach.
