What's Happening in Seattle, WA…

Virtual lecture series continues in Seattle

The Art History Lecture Series from the Frye Art Museum in Seattle is running until May.

The series, which began in January, features ten lectures given by art lecturer Rebecca Albiani. Each one focuses on one aspect of world art masterpieces.

The next lecture will take place on March 11. It is entitled San Marco and is about the mosaics and marbles found in St. Mark's Basilica in Rome. On March 25, the subject is the Tarot Garden of Niki de Saint Phalle also in Rome. This lecture focuses on the mosaic-covered concrete figures found there. Civilized Pleasures: Wine and Art will be the next lecture on April 8. It will highlight objects found in masterpieces that illustrate those pleasures.

The final lecture in April will be WPA Murals. This is about the Federal Art Project from 1935 which helped to decorate a large number of public buildings in the United States such as schools, hospitals and post offices.

Tickets for the entire series of 10 lectures cost $55 for members and $85 for non-members; individual lectures cost $6.50 or $9.

Seattle art lovers will no doubt be interested in one or more of these lectures. Local printing services companies often provide advertising for such events.

The lecture series will run virtually from the Frye Art Museum until May 27. Call 206-622-9250 for more information.
