Ultrafast rail connecting Seattle is feasible, report suggests
A high-speed railway between Vancouver, Seattle, and Portland could get the green light.
The transportation department in Washington has produced a study that looks at the costs and benefits of high-speed rail to and from Seattle. The scheme may involve spending well over $24bn, and up to 1.8 million passengers might use the finished infrastructure every year. Printing companies in Seattle can be used to help promote ambitious proposals like this.
Charles Knutson, a policy adviser to the state government, told the Vancouver Sun:
The research investigated the potential of three types of relevant technology. It also looked at possible routes, border issues, and sources of funding.
Support for rapid rail is building in the region. Senior politicians, business leaders, labor representatives, and environmentalists have all got on board.
Economic growth can be boosted if infrastructure receives sufficient investment, and more economic analysis is going to be conducted in relation to the initiative. The results of this research are expected within the next few weeks.

“It’s a big idea, to be sure, but many would say it’s an idea whose time has come and there are many compelling reasons for this. If you can just imagine being able to go from downtown Seattle to downtown Vancouver, B.C., in just over an hour, now imagine it through the Pacific Northwest.”
