Seattle session to explore benefits of rain gardens
Rain gardens and cisterns provide a way for property owners to protect local watersheds, and a Seattle workshop will explore them in depth.
RainWise Seattle will be giving the public the inside scoop on rain gardens and how to build them. It will include time speaking with a homeowner who has already made the plunge and installed one on their property, and it is free to book a seat in the activity.
Registrants for the session will be visiting a yard that utilizes a rain garden, and they will be able to see first-hand how they work. Refreshments will be served, and participants will have the chance to meet others who also care about sustainability. The event welcomes both those who are new to rain gardens and those familiar with the concept, who will learn about the benefits of the practice and also how to create one a rain garden that meets their specific needs.
A horticultural class gives the public an opportunity to learn some new gardening techniques. Copies of handouts, as well as promotional pens and other custom-designed materials for a function, can be prepared by a print shop.
This introduction to the art and science of rain gardens will be welcoming learners on Saturday, May 18 at 9:00 am. It will be held at 1901 N 55th Street.
