Seattle session to cover worm composting
Worms are one of the gardener’s greatest friends, and a Seattle workshop will teach how to welcome them with a purpose-built composter.
The Tilth Alliance will be giving the public a chance to learn how they can make their own worm composting bin for their yard, and it can be used to dispose of kitchen scraps. It will be a hands-on session, and everyone will be encouraged to ask questions.
The attendees will be taught how to prepare their composter, and they will learn how to choose the style that best fits their needs. They will find out how to add new scraps to compost, and tips for maintaining their own bin will be provided. The process of harvesting and utilizing the finished compost will be discussed, and the activity will be split between an indoor and outdoor learning space. There is space for 15 people, and everyone is reminded to dress for the weather.
Many people are interested in leading a more environmentally friendly lifestyle, and composting can be a simple way for them to get started. Learning materials for a workshop or class can be prepared by area stationery printers.
This fun introduction to the benefit of composting with worms will begin at 6:00 pm on Thursday, March 21. The venue for the event is at 4649 Sunnyside Avenue North.
