Seattle celebrates annual Mexican festival
The 11th annual Cinco de Mayo Celebration in Seattle is taking place next month, and is a presentation of El Centro de la Raza.
This popular free festival celebrates a victory in the Franco-Mexican war. Today, it has become a celebration of Spanish culture all over the world.
There will be plenty of traditional Mexican food and drinks to purchase, raffles, and information booths hosted by local community organizations. Arts and crafts vendors will be selling their handmade, unique items such as jewelry, clothing, and paintings.
Musical entertainment will be provided throughout the day by groups such as the Seattle Fandango Project, Chief Sealth Mariachi, and Desfile Multicultural. In addition, DJ Sonido Impacto will be making an appearance.
There are also slated to be a variety of children’s activities, which may include inflatables and face painting.
Organizers are still looking for volunteers and there are sponsorships available for purchase.
The celebration will likely attract families from all around Seattle. To help spread the word, organizers may invest in flyer or brochure printing services.
The Cinco de Mayo Celebration will be held at the Jefferson Community Center on May 7 from 12:00 noon to 4:00 pm. Admission is free of charge. To find out more about the event, become a volunteer, or sponsor it, contact El Centro de la Raza at 206-957-4649.
