Seattle asked to be generous in support of food drive
Seattle is a city that has earned a reputation for its generosity of spirit, and this will be on full display during an event that will work to ensure everyone in the city has food security.
The Harvest Food Drive will be running throughout the month of November, and everyone has been asked to dig deep where they can. The contributions will be passed along to the Ballard Food Bank, and at least 40 businesses have signed on to serve as a collection point for the donations.
Those who would like to make the holiday season a bit brighter for their neighbors in need can drop off a donation of non-perishable food or toiletries, and these will be distributed through the grocery-style food pantry run by the host organization. They will also be used for kids' feeding programs and other initiatives. It was explained that all help will be welcome.
To help make it easier for the public to decide what to give, a list has been prepared of the items that are most needed. Food banks often choose to do so, and these lists can be printed by stationery printers to distribute throughout a community.
The Harvest Food Drive will be collecting donations at area businesses from November 1st to November 30th. A list of the participating venues and other information is available on the Visit Ballard website.
